Writing With SEO Keywords For Online Exposure
Writing articles, blogging, and other content geared specifically toward an online market varies quite a bit from 'normal' writing for say a newspaper, book, or magazine. Because you want your article to gain prominence and be seen, you need to appeal to the search engine 'crawlers' that are constantly scanning the web for the most relevant information for users. These 'crawlers' in essence pass through your page from top to bottom, left to right and then rank what they read depending on what they deem to be of the highest quality and value. They then use that information to decide where your article will land in all the searches they provide. You want your writing to be in the forefront of that list, and that's where SEO keywords come into play.
The first thing you need to do when setting out to write your article, is to decide what the main topic or product that you are going to be writing about is and come up with a list of words relevant to that category. For instance, if you are writing about running shoes, you would list 'running shoes', 'athletic shoes', 'sportswear', 'footwear', and 'fitness shoes' all on that list. These are all your SEO keywords, and you are going to want to include and weave into your article.
Begin writing your article as you normally would and how you want it to appear on your site; you should aim to keep it about 300 to 500 words. Now, you want to reread what you have written and rework it, inserting the keywords you associated with your topic in as naturally as possible. Don't overload your articles making them too SEO keyword heavy, or the search engines will cast a suspicious eye and pass right over your site. You will inevitably have to change a few things around, add sentences here or take others out, but keep it all flowing as best you can. You want to include roughly 3-5 keywords or phrases into your text for every 100-200 words you have.
Finally, reread all you have and make sure that it is both grammatically correct and that it makes sense. Again, recheck that it isn't keyword 'stuffed' and it isn't too obvious that you were trying to get a certain amount of words and others related to them embedded within. Keep your target audience in mind and write about what would appeal to them and what they would want to read about!
